Our Work
Language Access
We advocate the removal of historical language barriers to public participation. Language barriers keep vital information from communities. Access to all regardless of language or capacity is a path toward meaningful engagement ensuring that communities have the information they need to assure their families safety. #TranslateTX #TraduceTX
Plastic & Petrochemicals
99% of plastic is derived from fossil fuels. Of those plastics produced they derive from either fracked gas or oil. The explosion of natural gas production has led to the ever-increasing demand for natural gas liquid, rich in the chemicals that serve as the building blocks of plastic production. Naphtha, a product of oil refining is another key of plastic production. Only five companies account for over half of global naphtha sales: BP, Chevron, ExxonMobil, Shell and China National Petroleum Corporation. Four of five have refining capacity along our coast within an hour of our front door.
Chemical Disasters & Crisis Response
Approximately 177 million Americans are in harm’s way for a worst-case scenario disaster, according to EPA data-even though they may be unaware of the threat. One in three schoolchildren in the US today attends a school within the vulnerability zone of a hazardous chemical facility.
Partnerships & Coalitions
Collaborations and partnerships assure the success of our intersectional movements and the success of our collective survival.
